Excessive Heat Warning in effect Thursday through Saturday

An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for all of central Virginia and much of the Commonwealth, effective 11 A.M. Thursday through 8 P.M. Saturday evening.  The combination of extreme heat and humidity will produce heat indices of 105-110 degrees, with a few readings up to 115 degrees possible.

An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot conditions will occur.  Stay hydrated and in air-conditioned rooms as much as possible.  Check on the elderly and keep your pets inside in air conditioning.

Take extra precautions if you have to be outside.  Try to reschedule strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours.  Wear lightweight, loose fitting clothing when possible and always remember to drink plenty of water.
